3 tips to make your room bigger

Here are our decorating tips to make your home feel bigger !

Don't feel too cramped thanks to our advice.

1 | Painting

It's well known that the colours in a room can set a certain mood, but the choice of layout is also very important !

All the walls, one wall, the bottom of the wall only, the ceiling... Using our guide above, you can work out how you need to paint your rooms to achieve the desired effect. So we're talking about a combination of coloured and white walls !

Of course, if you also want your room to be brighter, make sure you choose a fairly light colour. You can read our previous article on how to create a brighter interior

2 | How to place your curtains

Choosing long curtains to frame a window creates a sense of height visually as well as being much more aesthetically pleasing than short curtains. We recommend that you place the rod about 20cm above the window and make sure that it extends at least 15cm beyond each side of the window. You can then cut your curtains to within 3cm of the floor so that they reach the bottom without rubbing against the floor!

What's more, you can opt for a double rod if you want blackout curtains as well as privacy curtains, especially for bedrooms.

3 | A large carpet

IN A SMALL OR MEDIUM-SIZED BEDROOM

For a bedroom of limited size, atelier jorand recommends using a bed rail. This trendy option works well whether the bed is in the centre of the room or in the corner of 2 walls.

For a creative touch, you can arrange 2 or 3 small identical rugs around the bed, as illustrated by Atelier Jorand.

IN A SPACIOUS BEDROOM

atelier jorand offers a very trendy option: place a large rug under the bed, projecting out on either side. As well as being aesthetically pleasing, this solution offers appreciable comfort.

FOR A SMALL LIVING ROOM

Ideally, we recommend that you place all four feet of armchairs and sofas on the carpet, or at least the two front feet. Consistency is key: when the four legs of the sofa rest on the carpet, so should the four legs of the armchairs or chairs.

To maintain this consistency, we recommend opting for a rectangular or square rug rather than an oval or round one...

FOR A LIVING ROOM WITH MORE SPACE

To maximise the space in a spacious living room, atelier jorand recommends choosing a large rug that covers a large area, allowing sofas and armchairs to be placed on top. Buying a small rug that is only under the coffee table will give the illusion of a smaller space and reduce the visual impact of your furniture.

Don't forget to leave enough space to open cupboard doors and other furniture when you opt for a large rug in your bedroom.

We look forward to your feedback on our tips !
